Mistakes to Avoid on Your Wedding Day
Micromanaging
If you’ve ever met or talked to a performer, be it an actor, comedian, etc; they always tell you the way they deal with their nerves is by being prepared. All of your tasks should be completed before your wedding day. If you’re leaving things for the day of, you need to kindly ask the members of your wedding party to do it for you because you need to let go of all the small details and enjoy what the day is presenting to you.
Not Giving Yourself Time
You should block out little 5-10 minute bursts during your wedding day where you can just do nothing. Get on your phone and do a guided meditation, go talk to your best friend, your parents, or whoever your support system is. You need to remember that this one day is going to be cemented in your brain and having these little moments to fully enjoy it is part of the magic of that day.
Mismanaging Your Nerves
Everyone gets nerves, I get bouts of nerves just writing this blog imagining it. It’s okay to have nerves, but knowing what to do with it and knowing how to handle your nerves is a vital key. If you need a glass of wine to steady yourself go for it (Dear god, not in your dress, this should be a given;) But going overboard can make you too loose and can also set you on the wrong foot. If you are drinking coffee, you should try half-caf or no caf, because you don’t want to get jittery. coupling that with your nerves is going to burn you out before you even get to the altar. You need to strike the right chord and know the balance that works for you.
Forgetting to Breathe
Just breathe. We get so stuck in our heads some times that we forget that we are around other people and even our own bodies. But taking that nice big yoga breath is going to make you feel right as rain before it’s time to hit the stage. Just make sure that you can center yourself, surround yourself with people who can ground you, and breath.
Be in the Moment
Letting go and being in the moment is so critical. Stop obsessing over everything, stop running around trying to do the right thing or trying to set everything up. Go to the members of your wedding party or your guests and just be in it. Go with the flow, weddings are your work in motion. Once you’ve planned it, it’s just a matter of watching the show go off and taking in the glory of this day. You’ve done everything you can leading up to this day, don’t forget to enjoy each moment that happens.
